Since the doors of this church building-turned-beer bar and gastropub opened, the devout have poured in. Drawn in by the superb collection of (often unusual) beers on tap and by the bottle, they wash the brew down with crave-worthy small plates from the tiny kitchen. With a constantly changing selection, there's always a new reason to pack into the airy space. The adventurous head upstairs to the choir loft for more advanced beer choices in a super intimate setting, while in fine weather, most everyone can be found outside in the “gralegarten,” which is now shared with their sister property the Gralehaus. Special events, dinners, and tasting throughout the year fill the house.

Holy Grale is the holy grail of casual places to hang out. They have a menu that is fairly adventurous for Louisville. They're not afraid to have a menu that's 10 to 15 items, with four to five that are pretty unexpected. We had some chicken liver toast and fried chicken wings in fish sauce that were really good, and at the same time, they were making house-made pasta with pork belly and shrimp.
