Love Lane Kitchen
240 Love Lane, Mattituck, NY, 11952
A favorite brunch spot on the North Fork, this charming Mattituck eatery serves classic dishes made with quality, locally sourced ingredients. The beloved lobster roll on toasted brioche with a side of garlic fries is a must as is the spring risotto with pan-seared scallops. The seafood-averse have plenty of options as well, like herb grilled skirt steak and a vegetable-packed goat cheese panini. But first, coffee: The folks here take it seriously, brewing local Long Island Roasters and ingeniously serving iced drinks with frozen coffee cubes to avoid the dreaded watered-down effect. (Dinner is available Thursday through Monday only.)
My boyfriend and I often go on day trips to the North Fork. On the way out to Orient Point (the Northern tip of the island)—right about when we're getting seriously hungry, but before we hit wine country—is this great little café. It's a friendly place filled with light, where you can get unpretentious bistro fare that's always fresh and yummy. The lobster roll, in particular, is fantastic. After visiting this place, a stroll down the street it's on, literally named Love Lane is always a great way to stretch your legs.
