With humble beginnings as a pie shop in the ‘40s, Poole’s is now a refurbished diner serving Southern cooking with a lighter, more refined touch. Run by beloved Raleigh chef Ashley Christensen, the diner skips printed menus and instead directs you to large chalkboards for daily local and seasonal dishes. Expect sharable starters like chicken liver pâté and North Carolina yellowfin tartare as well as robust entrees like fennel-roasted pork chop that are perfect for digging into solo.

Poole's is an American-style diner where every dish is simple and flavored to perfection. The dim lights and comfy booths make for a casual but intimate environment, and the menu is written each day on large chalkboards that make you feel right at home.
