The Pacific Northwest’s bounty of deliciousness is on full display in Portland’s farmers’ markets. In addition to incredible produce, you’ll find baked goods, preserves, meats, cheeses, and prepared food. The Portland Farmers Market at the edge of Portland State University’s campus is the biggest in the city and open on Saturdays from mid-March through December. Take a stroll through the stands and pick up snacks for yourself and treats to take back home to friends.

I love visiting farmers’ markets in general but even if ogling produce isn’t your thing, the market at PSU is a great way to spend a Saturday morning. It can get crowded so get there when it opens (8:30am or 9am depending on the time of year) and pick up your coffee and breakfast there. Try an artichoke tamale or one of the amazing fried chicken biscuit sandwiches from Pine State Biscuits.
