3 Luongo , Memorial Square, Providence, RI, 02903
Located on a quiet, mostly residential street on the west side of Providence, North is one of Providence's most unique dining experiences. Founded by a trio that includes two Johnson & Wales grads, North is equal parts food adventure and traditional deliciousness. Sitting somewhere between contemporary Asian (think Momofuku) and modern comfort food, North's approach to small plates, fresh ingredients, and bold flavors rewards modern palettes and a willingness to go with the flow. The intimate and casual space seats maybe 25 people, and the "no reservations" policy probably means you'll end up grabbing a cocktail at The Avery—located catty corner from North—before settling in to eat. The team also opened North Bakery close by where they serve “non-traditional” treats like a lemon bar with rosemary crust and cheddar scones with roasted jalapeños.
This place is small, has amazing food, and is the best place to go with friends. The restaurant seats about five tables and the menu is structured for sharing. The food is absolutely incredible—every time I have eaten there, I am left feeling amazed by the creativity of the cooks. It's not pretentious or stuffy...it is just damn delicious. Get the Dan Dan noodles!
