Craft breweries are big in Richmond (there are about 10 in the city currently) but Hardywood Park stands out for its range of well-made ales and lagers as well as their weekly events, which include a food truck court on Thursdays (March through October), live music on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights, and even a donation-based yoga class (we’ll namaste to that). Visit their taproom to sample their seasonal beer selection made with local ingredients like Virginia blackberries and the ginger and honey used in their award-winning Gingerbread Stout (which got a score of 100 from “the Bros” at BeerAdvocate).

There are a lot of great breweries opening up in the city, but Hardywood is one of my favorites. There’s usually a good show or pop-up market there and every Thursday when the weather gets nice, the food trucks gather up and park themselves like it’s one big picnic.
